Stats service Succeeded "False" all the way. Please help.

I can't make a stats service to work:
The log file history with errors.:
    Started Ended Succeeded Notes
3/21/2007 7:54:50 PM 3/21/2007 7:54:50 PM False Import Started. Failed SpyIISLog service. Exception: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040154): Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {8CFEBA94-3FC2-45CA-B9A5-9EDACF704F66} failed due to the following error: 80040154. at Mediachase.eCF.Plugins.Services.Statistics.ImportIISLog.Execute() at Mediachase.eCF.Plugins.Services.Statistics.SpyIISLogService.ProcessData() at Mediachase.eCF.Plugins.Services.Statistics.SpyIISLogService.Execute()

    Settings for the service:
    Friendly Name:  Statistics
    System Name: SpyIISLog
    Class Name: Mediachase.eCF.Plugins.Services.Statistics.SpyIISLogService
    Time Lapse (in minutes):  1
Retry Time Lapse (in minutes):  1
    Retain Schedule History:  10.
    Last Start: 3/21/2007 8:02:50 PM
    Next Start: 3/21/2007 8:03:50 PM
    Enabled

    Site name: winelook.com.au
    Path to IIS Logs: D:\Clients\C4420\winelook.com.au\logs\W3SVC1735\ex*.log
    Folder to site: /       (Example: "/eCF40/PublicStore/"  )

    What's wrong, please?

    Alexei

    Hi,

You need to register LogParser.dll in your system.

    Nadya.

Re: Stats service Succeeded "False" all the way. Please help.

Nadya, Do you think it helps? :) :)
We are talking about remote, non-dedicated server. The only one option i do realy have - ask support team for the LogParser.dll registration.
    There are a few options:
    1. Hey, it is already has been installed! (?)
    2. We can't install anything for everyone.(?)
    3. Yes, we'll do it for you. (Cool!)

I'll try to contact my host support team.

    Thank you. Alexei

Hi, I meant LogParser.dll needs to be registered on the computer that runs ECF.

Re: Stats service Succeeded "False" all the way. Please help.

    Hi there,

Sorry for dragging up an old thread, but I am having exactly the same issue:

4/25/2008 12:11:17 PM 4/25/2008 12:11:17 PM False Import Started. Failed SpyIISLog service. Exception: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040154): Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {8CFEBA94-3FC2-45CA-B9A5-9EDACF704F66} failed due to the following error: 80040154. at Mediachase.eCF.Plugins.Services.Statistics.ImportIISLog.Execute() at Mediachase.eCF.Plugins.Services.Statistics.SpyIISLogService.ProcessData() at Mediachase.eCF.Plugins.Services.Statistics.SpyIISLogService.Execute()

I made sure that we have registered the LogParser, but still have the same problem - any ideas?

    Many Thanks,

    Gareth

In the IIS, please check if your site W3C Extended Log File Format is enabled. Also click on properties for that format and select Extended Properties tab. Check all the Extended Logging Options.

Please, send me on email aa@mediachase.com a small fragment of your log-file on research and inform me number of the version eCF.

Re: Stats service Succeeded "False" all the way. Please help.

If you can't install and register LogParser the SpyIIS won't run.  It's unfortunate if your hosting at a third party.  eCF 4 won't run in medium trust and LogParser 2.2 needs to be installed on the server or you won't get the statistics.

Re: Stats service Succeeded "False" all the way. Please help.

I have reinstalled LogParser 2.2.  Does it matter that this is a 64-bit server?

Re: Stats service Succeeded "False" all the way. Please help.

It should work fine on the 64 bit server. I would recommend using Google Analytics for statistics instead.

We have Google Analytics, but for various reasons, we want to implement this solution as well.  Is there anything else I should be looking at?

Re: Stats service Succeeded "False" all the way. Please help.

There was one other thing I had to do to make it work and on the General Properties tab for the web server check the "Use local time for file naming and rollover".  Then all of the boxes on the extended properties are checked.  If this doesn't work post an example of your web log file.
